BLO BACK’S MISSION

To provide an uncensored platform that may challenge what we believe to be true.

Why Blo Back?

Blowback is a term originating from within the American intelligence community (so-called) denoting the unintended (but understandable) consequences of a covert military operation that fall back on those forces responsible for the aforementioned stealth operations. I say that blowback does not fall on Americans only from covert military operations: We all feel the consequences of poverty, homelessness, industrially-processed food, drug addiction, wars, and corporate corruption.

Blo Back Gallery is an intended consequence of overt artistic intelligence applied to expose hypocrisy and to promote genuine human relations. You might have noticed that the United States of America is not the best country on the planet, no matter how many times we hear it from our leaders. Our Department of War has invaded countries for control of their resources and monetary system, resulting in oppression of their citizenry. Our nation has the highest prison population and the most people addicted to legal pharmaceutical drugs. All Americans experience the consequences of the lack of analytical thinking on these social and political situations. And yet, freedom of inquiry is possible.

Blo Back Gallery is an invitation to artists and their audience (that is everyone) to practice an informed interrogation of politics-as-usual; to discuss the local, regional, and national causes of the poverty, homelessness, and drug addiction we see around us. A high percentage of Americans seem to be complacent and dazzled by sports and celebrity. Yet, they want to make a positive difference in the world but are unsure of how to do so.

Blo Back Gallery is committed to showing the public what art is: a structured expression of craft and content in sculpture and mixed media, etc. that makes a positive difference in our world. Blo Back Gallery will present radical acts of creation which are evidence that community exists regardless of national boundaries, economic status, education level, gender roles, religion, and other areas used to separate people.

Welcome to the Blo Back Gallery!
