First Friday Art Walk - “Celery Jam: Colorado Pop Surrealists ”

  • Blo Back Gallery 131 Spring Street Pueblo, CO, 81003 United States (map)

Join us for the First Friday Art Walk from 6PM-9PM for the opening of “Celery Jam: Colorado PopSurrealists,” presented by James Fuller, Eugene Schilling, Nora McBride, Anthony Guntren, Richard Ingersol, and Henry Blount in the BIG Blo Gallery. Live performance by Victoria Lundy: virtuoso theremin player, Katy Williams and Robopera performs, “ Tales from the Gimp.”

“So is this a show on all the Popsurrealists in Colorado? Not by a long shot. That would be an impossible task, as a drive through any Colorado town would show you with the various murals, tattoo shops, flyer art, etc, would demonstrate. Is it a show of incredible art with surprising stylistic and narrative connections and differences? Absolutely. Popsurrealism is, and always has been huge in Colorado. Often stuck hiding away under monoliths of cowboy, mountain, and bighorn paintings. Celery jam is a select group of Colorado artists each uniquely expressing themselves in this genre, chosen for their absolute mastery of their medium, as well as the interesting visual connection to the other artists. A show I’m truly honored to be a part of.”
